To connect to a remote location, hover over the Remote section header of the sidebar and click the + button that is to the right of it. This will open a connection dialog where you can choose your desired protocol and enter connection details and credentials.
Working with Remote File Systems#
Previewing Remote Files#
For small remote files (8 MiB or less), you can preview them using the macOS native Quicklook preview pane as you would local files. For images and other previewable formats, you can also click the cloud download button in Cosmil’s preview pane, where a preview will also appear.
Opening Remote Files#
Opening/editing remote files works in nearly the same way as local files do. Double click your desired file, or right click the file, select Open or view the Open With submenu. Before Cosmil can open the file in the app you chose, it must first download it. The larger the file is and/or the slower your network, the longer that may take, so be mindful of which files you choose to open.
Editing Remote Files#
After you’ve opened a file, Cosmil will automatically watch the locally staged file for changes and automatically upload them back to the server when they are applied. You can view pending uploads in the Job Manager.
